Are fragrance Oils Safe?
Fragrance oils can be safe if used appropriately and safely, mindful of a few things:

1. **Skin Sensitivity**: Fragrance oils can cause irritation of the skin in some people with sensitive skin or allergies, and if you are going to use it on the skin, it’s important to dilute it properly and do a patch test before using it broadly.
2. **Inhalation**: Many fragrance oils are considered to safe for diffusing, however, inhaling them directly or in excessive amounts can irritate the respiratory track, more so if a person has asthma or other respiratory problems.
3. **Pets and Children**: Some fragrance oils can be harmful to pets (cats, dogs, and birds especially) and young children. For example, tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil can be toxic to cats. Always do a quick online search for the safety of the color-coded oils in relation to animals and small children.
4. **Quality of Oil**: The safety of fragrance oils can be in the quality of the oil. Cheaper oils tend to use synthetic ingredients or chemicals that are not safe. When looking to purchase oils it’s always best to stick with ones that are deemed cosmetic grade, safe for skin, and preferably organic.
5. **Environmental Considerations**: When fragrance oils are used in excessive amounts when diffusing, they can contribute to indoor air pollution. Proper ventilation is always a key point when using oils, especially in small or enclosed spaces.
6. **Ingestion**: Fragrance oils are never to be ingested, as most fragrance oils are toxic when swallowed.
If using fragrance oils, ensure you are using them within their safety guidelines for that particular use either for the skin, diffusing, or any other application.
